A family Affair
Boulangerie Christophe is proud to bring a homemade, truly authentic French bakery experience to Georgetown and Potomac, Maryland. All that with the unique vision of providing customers with an experience that emulates the authentic, yet cozy feeling of true cafe dining in Saint-Tropez, south of France.
The star of the bakery is the Baguette (recently elected best Baguette in the US for the second time by the Triptee World Bread Awards) dark and crusty on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Boulangerie Christophe offers an assortment of breads: from the whole grain, wheat, and sesame, to crunchy white. The award-winning bakery also serves, pastries, croissants and more.
DC Baker, Stephane Grattier, Congratulated by French President Emmanuel Macron
November 30 2022 – During French President Emmauel Macron’s official Visit to the French Embassy in Washington DC, The President requested DC Master Baker, Stephane Grattier of Boulangerie Christophe, to join him on stage to congratulate him for his contributions to French Craftmanship.
President Macron highlighted the artisanal expertise of Master Baker Stephane Grattier’s Baguettes, winner of the 2022 World Bread Awards USA for Best Baguette, on the occasion of the induction of the French Baguette as an element of the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
“It is an incredible honor to be congratulated by President Macron” says an emotional Stéphane Grattier. “Continuing the tradition of French Bread has been a driving force in my life and I am so proud that my sons are as passionate about it as I am and that I am able to work every day with my wife, Sylvie, by my side”.
About Stéphane Grattier
Stephane and Sylvie Grattier joined DC’s Boulangerie Christophe in 2019 and then became associates with Didier Martin in 2020. Boulangerie Christophe has since grown to include a second location in Potomac, Maryland.
Stéphane was compensated with a Triptee World Bread Award for Best Baguette in the USA in 2020 and then again in 2022. Stéphane won an Academie Culinaire Gold Medal in 2021.
Stephane’s greatest joy is that he gets to work with his sons and his wife every day.
